Terrorist: Jaber A. Elbaneh (alias Jaber A. Elbanelt, Jaben A. Elbanelt, Jabor Elbaneh, Abu Jubaer, Jubaer Elbaneh, and "Jubair") is a taxi driver. Being a taxi driver got him on the FBI's most wanted list.
Jaber A. Elbaneh is charged with providing material support to a terrorist organization, specifically to Al-Qaeda. While it may have been for the purpose of supporting terrorism (I don't actually know), this material support came in the form of being paid to drive them places in the taxi that it is his job to drive in the manner that his job requires him to do. Elbaneh is believed to have fled the United States and is still thought to be outside the country. I think I would flee too.
Terrorist: Hasan Izz-Al-Din (alias Ahmed Garbaya, Samir Salwwan, and Sa-id) is an alleged member of the Lebanese terrorist organization Hizballah, and is thought to be in Lebanon. He was indicted for his role in planning and participation in the 14.06.85 hijacking of a commercial airliner which resulted in the assault on various passengers and crew members, and the murder of one U.S. citizen.
Asylum seeker:
This is an unnamed young asylum seeker from the Amnesty website. For my purposes it is quite unfortunate that this is Amnesty, as Oxfam are pretty good at giving a full heart-wrending background story, but in this instance I'll have to make up something plausable:
Yung San is a poor little orphan boy whose parents were killed due to the thoughtless production by the west of assorted weaponry, probably anti-personel land mines. Look into his big, sad eyes. He doesn't like it at Sangat.
Asylum seeker: Osama bin Ha'seem was captured by US forces in Afganistan in January 2001 after an unfortunate confusion regarding his name. He was detained in Camp X-Ray for 15 months, but when the beatings failed to reveal any pertainant information, this mistake was rectified. Upon his deportation back to Afganistan, he was believed to be a US informer and was due to be ritualistically killed by the 'new' regime. He paid trafficers to get him to the UK where he applied for asylum on the grounds that he was persecuted and about to be killed in his homeland. His application was denied, and he was returned to Afganistan. He is now sadly dead.
Terrorist:
Abdelkarim Hussein Mohamed Al-Nasser has been indicted in the Eastern District of Virginia for the 25.06.96 bombing of the Khobar Towers military housing complex in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. Once again, the 'Rewards For Justice Program' is tainting the judicial process by offering a reward of up to $25 million for information leading directly to his apprehension or indictment.
Asylum seeker: Mohammed Iqbal Mohsin Sanjay Patel applied for asylum in the UK in April 2003. The media was paying quite a lot of attention to asylum claims at this time, as excess asylum seekers were being housed in hotels (except in Glasgow, where they were lynched) and there was speculation that Saddam Hussain's family would imminently seek asylum. On his application, Mohammed supported his claim by stating that he had family already living within the country, though puzzlingly no blood link could be discerned. When his application was denied, Mohammed absconded before he could be deported and is now thought to be living in Blackburn.
